  1. Trouser: 132 EGP

A visit to the fish market

A week ago, I was in Port Said to visit some relatives, and I decided to go to the fish market to buy some sea food. In Port Said you can always find a variety of excellent fresh fish either from Suiz Canal or the mediterranian sea.

When I entered the market, merchants started to draw my attention to buy from them, in fact they realized that I’m foreigner as I carried an icebox (it was a mistake..).

The market seemed to have everything you need to deliver fish as you want.

Here are the fish merchants

Fish merchants

and the ice crunchers

Ice cruncher
and the fish ovens to prepare the meal.

Also I found a fish preparation stand (to clean the inside of the fish), a merchant for plastic bags, lemon, and spices.

It’s a one stop market from fish selection to meal preparation (w belhana wel-shefa – Bon appetit)

Fadi Ali

Fadi is a 10 years kid among the 460 lybian kids who were purposly injected with AIDS by Bulgarian nurses 8 years ago.
I heared today an interview with Fadi and his parents. the interview talked about how the family live and what future is waiting Fadi.
Despite all of the jokes that people in Lybia will accept 1 Million dollars per victem in order to lower the sentence to lifetime prison, I could not imagine the crime of destroying 460 families and blocking a portion of tomorrow’s youth from having a normal life (if they live).
Not only this, but the biggest problem is the way they will be treated when the socity believes that they are AIDS contamenated.

I pray for Fadi and his 460 brothers, and wish all of you do so.

Egyptian Cinema

In a chat with my wife last month, I wondered if cinema production in Egypt is following any rules such that the benefit of watching the movies is extended beyound making a forutne for the producer.
In fact, what we see on the silver screen is a mix of a very little idea (the story), obsene words and scenes, drugs, and dirty relations delivered to the audience through favourite stars.
One example I saw this summer is a movie called “Omar w Salma” starring Tamer Hosny, a famous singer in Egypt and Middle East. The story -if there is- is a simple love story between Omar and Salma, both are colleagues in the University. The movie is full of dirty scenes, obsene words (Omar’s father -Ezzat Abou Ouf- is also doing the same thing, just to set the example for his son…). There is a scene where Omar and Salma entered the toilet while his father was peeing …!.

The problem is that the movie transfers these ideas to the kids who will grow and do the same thing.
The message the Cinema is delivering is very importnat and can be considered as an influencer to all (I mean all) audience, we cannot just accept these dirt under the “reality” name. Yes things like that may happen once every million, but conveying it to audience causes this percentage to increase.

I remember I did not see a movie during the last 3 years where the star sets an example as a clever, successful, or making any good thing that you would like to copy or follow.
